Sheela Murthy gave the opening keynote address at the recent Women’s Day at the LPGA International Crown Tournament. The event was held at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, on July 24, 2014, and was sponsored by TESSCO Technologies, the Baltimore-based telecommunications company. It brought together leading international women professional golfers and business leaders from around the region for a morning of networking and conversation, celebrating women in the workplace and discussing matters important to women professionals.
Murthy, founder and president of the Murthy Law Firm, the world-renowned immigration law practice that bears her name, shared the hard-won lessons of her successful career as a lawyer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She brought a unique global perspective, borne of her experience as an immigrant and international businesswoman. In her talk, entitled “Authenticity: Be Yourself,” Murthy invited her audience to define their purpose and refine their careers. Murthy commented:
“It was a really exciting event, one that showed women at the top of their game, capable of world-class achievement, whether it’s on the fairway or in the boardroom. Just as you’d expect, with all these high-powered businesswomen gathered together, the energy in the room was amazing. At the end of my talk, I asked all the women there to make a commitment – to promise not to allow any doubts or limiting beliefs to keep them from tapping into their own boundless energy and succeeding at all of the amazing opportunities that are out there for the taking, when you don’t get in your own way. I think the morning’s discussions really got the creative juices flowing, and hopefully this will give everyone who attended a little extra motivation to put their best ideas into action. I really appreciate the invitation from TESSCO, and my hat is off to them for sponsoring Women’s Day at the LPGA. It was a great event!”
