Sheela Murthy, founder and president of the Murthy Law Firm, has been selected to receive the 2012 Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Award at a ceremony to be held on Friday, May 4th. She was selected for her excellence in entrepreneurship, her professionalism, and the many contributions she makes to the community through her extensive philanthropic involvement.
The Top 100 MBE Awards pay tribute to outstanding women and minority business owners in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. It’s a distinction that marks the best of the best among the many enterprising women and minority entrepreneurs who fuel the region’s economic growth through their visions, innovations, creativity, and sheer hard work.
In excellent company, Murthy will be taking her place among other leading minority entrepreneurs whose businesses cover a broad spectrum of commercial activity, from construction, health care, and food services, to consulting, information technology, and professional services like architecture, accounting, and law.
Widely recognized as one of the foremost immigration lawyers in the country, Murthy has received numerous awards for her leadership as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. The Children’s Guild of Baltimore recently honored her with its 2012 Sadie Award for her philanthropy and humanitarianism, and in 2011 she was recognized by the Maryland Daily Record as one of the “Top 50 Most Influential Marylanders,” and named her to its prestigious Circle of Excellence for being a three-time winner of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. In 2010, Murthy received the Small Business of the Year Award from the Maryland Chamber of Commerce; in 2009, she received Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award – and the list goes on.
Our warmest congratulations to Sheela on this recognition. The awards are only a reflection of your substance, which sets a high bar for others to immulate. Way to go!!
