Sheela Murthy has been one of the longest serving members of the Board of Advisors of JHPIEGO, a globally recognized provider of medical care, headquartered in Maryland. It is an affiliate of Johns Hopkins health care system, with the focus of helping save the lives of women and children by educating and empowering women and families.

Their by-line is, where a woman lives should not determine if she lives.

Dr. Leslie Mancuso, the President and CEO of JHPIEGO for the about 20 years, has grown the organization dramatically to expand care around the world. Her leadership and determination are unparalleled. Since she will retire by March 31, 2026, Sheela Murthy through the MurthyNAYAK Foundation pledged a multi-year Gift to recognize the monumental work of JHPIEGO and Dr. Leslie Mancuso. An award will be established in Dr. Mancuso’s honor.
